Sculpture

Though I have dabbled occasionally in sculpture and graphic design, my premier experiences have been in drawing and painting. Thus, when I was only allowed wooden skewers, hot glue, acetate film and a stiff tulle-like material for an art project, I was lost. However, instead of giving up, I persevered. I took inspiration from Queen Liliuokalani and Nefertiti, two royals who were the last of their dynasty and created this representation of a monarch in mourning.

Hot Glue, Wooden Skewers

This Sculpture was my geometric rendering of a person’s forearm and hand in an outstretched position. I had created this sculpture by heavily referring to my own arms, and replicating what I saw in the form of wooden skewers. I ultimately let the fingers of the sculpture retain their flexibility, as demonstrated by the photo of the sculpture holding a tennis ball, to try and emanate the human ability to move fingers and hold items.
